Description
A quality leather midsole forms the foundation of a well-made shoe or boot. Although thinner than the outsole, it adds strength, comfort and durability. It also helps your footwear age beautifully. Whether your shoes are Blake stitched or Goodyear welted, a premium leather midsole restores performance, improves support and preserves the original feel.
At Baxter & Black, we use only premium leather midsoles chosen for their strength, density and longevity. We shape and fit each midsole to match the original construction. This preserves the balance, flexibility and craftsmanship of the footwear. Every repair is completed by hand for a clean, factory-quality finish. A new leather midsole also protects the welt and creates a solid foundation for future resoles.
When fitting a new leather midsole, we may also replace the cork filling beneath the footbed. Cork naturally compresses over time, reducing comfort and support. Fresh cork restores cushioning, improves the fit and moulds to the shape of your foot for lasting comfort.
You can leave the leather midsole in its natural finish to develop a rich patina or have it hand-dyed to match the original colour. Combined with expert craftsmanship and premium materials, a new leather midsole and fresh cork will extend the life of your shoes or boots while maintaining their comfort, balance and timeless character.

- Inspect the footwear to assess the condition of the existing midsole, welt and cork filling.
- Remove the worn midsole without damaging the original construction.
- Replace the cork filling where required to restore comfort and support.
