Description
The Redwing Nitrile Sole and Heel Combo is built to last. It delivers grip and abrasion resistance that can carry you a thousand miles. Cork nitrile combines rubber and cork into a low-profile workboot sole. By mixing cork with rubber, the sole is lighter without losing durability. Unlike most soles, cork does not hold a tread. As a result, snow, ice, and debris simply slide off.
Designed for classics like Wolverines and Red Wings, the nitrile compound has a distinct look. Paired with the Red Wing logo heel, it completes the recraft. Because both pieces share the same compound and color, they last as long as the originals. Matching the sole and heel ensures the same look and feel you remember.

Our Method
- Insert a wooden last to hold the boot in place.
- Remove the heel block.
- Remove the old cork Redwing Nitrile Sole by cutting the welt stitches between the midsole and welt.
- Remove the old cork from under the footbed and replace it with fresh spreadable cork.
- Roughly sand the cork Nitrile sole and clean the bonding surface with acetone. Also, rough sand the heel block base.
- Once the cork is dry, apply two layers of glue to it. Apply two layers of glue to the prepared sole and a layer to the heel block base.
- Let the glue cure, then reactivate with heat, press the surfaces together, and set aside to fully cure.
- Trim the cork Nitrile sole to the welt edge and mark the heel block position. Rough grind the area, then secure the heel block with buttress nails.
- Set the welt machine to the correct stitch length and welt stitch the new sole to the upper.
- Apply glue where the heel block sits, place the heel block, and drive buttress nails through the guide holes to secure it.
- Reglue the original heel pad or fit a new one.
- Finish by nourishing the upper with Saphir Crème 1925 Shoe Polish and sealing the welt edge with Saphir Cordovan Crème.
