We use the Vibram Montagna Sole when a boot or shoe needs serious traction and strength. W usually use the the Montagna on Red Wing boots, Tricker’s, Viberg and Blundstone, either Goodyear-welted, or with randing. We often get asked to use them on more interesting items, especially for loafers. Its deep-lug tread pattern provides a firm hold on rugged terrain and wet surfaces alike. The compound rubber construction resists abrasion, keeping its structure and integrity under demanding conditions. Although robust, it still maintains flexibility where needed, ensuring comfort throughout long days on foot. The sole integrates seamlessly with the upper, enhancing longevity without compromising craftsmanship. Our Method
- To start, we remove the worn sole by carefully unpicking the welt stitch in order to preserve the original welt.
- Then we glue, followed by blake stitching the midsole onto the welt.
- We rough up the back of the sole to give good adhesion.
- We glue the new sole to the bottom of the shoe and trim.
- Finally, we hand-trim and finish the edges to match the shoe’s original profile.
